Aquatech, the world's most complete platform for professionals in the world of water technology, invited Bruno Lhopiteau, Managing Director of Siveco China, to write an article on: "A 20-year ride on China's digital water train". In this article, Bruno, a fellow-traveller of Chinese utilities, shares his 20-year experience in the Chinese Water market and more particularly with digital transformation projects.
In this article, Bruno comments that Chinese water companies are moving faster in their digital transformation than their western counterparts. In recent years, most have come to realize that maintenance was a core business, related to water quality and regulatory compliance. Increasingly large budgets are allocated to O&M improvement through digitalization. Historically, anywhere in the world, the success rate of such projects has been low as they tend to be driven by admin and IT. With the advantage of hindsight, Chinese utilities can design IT projects with their exact strategic needs in mind. For this, Siveco has long advocated relying on the ISO 55000 series of Asset Management standards (and its Chinese national standard equivalent) as a practical framework. Several examples of Siveco clients are mentioned.
Based on a long experience all over the world and lessons learned during the rapid and massive Chinese infrastructure built-up of the past 20 years, Siveco China, the pioneer in the development of Smart O&M solutions, has a strong track record in the environmental industry: using the ISO 55000 Asset Management standard as a framework to help water companies to drive continuous improvement, by closing "the ISO 55000 loop". Clients include:
Chongqing Sino French Water,
Zhongshan Water,
Hongcheng Water,
Changshu Sino French Water,
Capital Water,
Suez NWS,
Hong Kong’s Drainage Services Department, etc.
