On June 28, 2021, Siveco China officially announced support for Huawei's HarmonyOS in the latest version 2.5.0 of its flagship bluebee® mobile app.
bluebee® is a unique tool designed "for the worker of tomorrow" to capture information from the field and to enforce best practices. With the first release of bluebee® in 2008, Siveco China has pioneered the development of Smart O&M technologies, putting man – not machine – at the center. bluebee® is part of Siveco China's Smart Operation & Maintenance, Asset Management, Risk Management and Maintenance software suite. bluebee® is developed at the company's bluebee® lab, its Shanghai R&D center.
Siveco China also announced further R&D investment in the coming months to take full advantage of the new HarmonyOS technological capabilities and ecosystem, more particularly around the usage of IoT and wearables in industrial settings.
Siveco China's Managing Director, Bruno Lhopiteau, declared:
"We are honored to involve in the HarmonyOS ecosystem to continue to support our clients' freedom of choice, to address the regulatory demands they face, and to fulfill their increasingly sophisticated needs with regards to man-machine integration."
"Siveco China already has a long history developing apps for wearable devices and industrial instruments, albeit adoption of such technologies in the industry remains low. We believe the release of HarmonyOS by Huawei will provide a tremendous boost to these industrial developments, offering fresh perspectives for our 1,000+ clients, as well as obvious commercial potential for us."
"By investing in HarmonyOS, a decision our board of directors made in July 2020, at the peak of the Covid-19 crisis, Siveco China reinforces its commitment to the Chinese digital ecosystem and to domestic cybersecurity and personal data protection laws."
He added:
"In 2021, many industrial software vendors continue to rely on the US-controlled digital stack, for example using Google Services, running all or part of their solutions on servers located outside of China. An increasing number of their customers here will find themselves non-compliant with local regulations, jeopardizing their business. This is already the case in highly regulated industries, such as infrastructures or chemical plants, but it concerns virtually every company that manages data subject to increasingly strict regulatory scrutiny, such as mandated technical checks, health & safety records, and so on."
