Interview by China Energy News: "Asset management in the Energy Industry has bright prospects"

2020-03-25
Just before the COVID-19 crisis hit, Siveco China's Vice President Paul Wang was interviewed for China Energy News (People's Daily group) by journalist Ms. Bie Fan in Beijing. Paul shared insights about the development of Smart O&M in the energy industry, stressing the long history of Siveco in China.

Siveco China was founded in 2004 by veterans of the Chinese power market, active in this market since the 90s. A R&D center, the bluebee® lab, was opened in 2009, dedicated to mobility for risk prevention. Over the past decade, innovations were developed to address the needs of fast-growing Chinese infrastructures and were also applied on Belt & Road projects.

The key points of the interview are:

-Most problems experienced with IT solutions for O&M in the energy sector are caused by the lack of industrial and methodological know-how (by suppliers and in-house IT).

-Although we are supposedly in the era of 4.0, most energy plants start operation without a computerized maintenance system in place. This leads to years of operation using paper, excel (with all related inefficiencies and losses) and later an often painful implementation of IT system for maintenance.

-Technology is the medicine, but good doctors are still needed to make a diagnosis and recommend the right treatment.

-Various Siveco clients are named in the article, such as Hanas LNG, Fushun Mining, Yingde Gases, power plants built by CNEEC overseas…

In the midst of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, the Siveco China story rings true. In the past 20 years, Siveco went through many crisis and game-changing events as the nation underwent its unprecedented transformation. We are confident in steering the business successfully during the crisis together with our energy and infrastructure clients.
