Join our workgroup with the Global Supply Chain Council on September 22

2009-07-30

We are pleased to invite you and your colleagues to join the Global Supply Chain Council for a new Workgroup Discussion on the role of maintenance on Sept. 22, in Shanghai. The workshop will start with a presentation, then followed by a group discussion around the following topic:

Maintenance failures – Impact on your Supply Chain and Logistics Operations

- A backup diesel generator doesn't start (it was never tested), leading to operation losses worth several times the annual maintenance budget. A poorly designed HVAC system isn't well maintained (in spite of contractors reports stating otherwise), resulting in 20% extra electricity consumption. A facility runs with constant recourse to emergency contractors your technical staff has good guanxi with…. Operators often fail to recognize the impact of maintenance in terms of indirect costs or consequential losses in the supply chain (estimated at 10 times the direct costs, based a recent survey).

- Our speaker, a 12-year veteran of the Chinese maintenance market, will share some of his experience dealing with "maintenance with Chinese characteristics" and discuss a practical approach to tap its enormous savings potential.
