Siveco and 01dB-Metravib in alliance to provide integrated Condition Based Maintenance solutions to the Chinese market

2010-04-25

01dB-Metravib, subsidiary of energy giant Areva, and Siveco, China's largest maintenance consultancy join forces to provide integrated systems and services aimed at delivering measurable ROI through the implementation of condition monitoring. The partnership primarily targets the Chinese process industry and wind energy markets.

Siveco brings to the table a strong maintenance management expertise, complemented by 01dB-Metravib's unparalleled know-how in the field of vibration analysis and condition monitoring in general. To support this joint project approach, the two companies' systems OneProd Condition Monitoring System (CMS) and COSWIN Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) have been integrated.

Flow chart of integrated CMMS+CMS solution

"Condition monitoring has a troubled track record in China, a 15 years history of high hopes yet disappointing results" said Bruno Lhopiteau, General Manager of Siveco China and himself a former condition monitoring specialist. He explained: "Stories abound of portable instruments, purchased with the promise of obtaining rapid reliability improvements, being left gathering dust on a shelf. A few years down the line, it is not uncommon for companies to blame the hardware and purchase another set of instruments or perhaps an online monitoring solution from another vendor. Suppliers active in the Chinese market are often hardware providers, with neither operational experience nor service capability apart from the mandatory training session, often provided free of charge."

Eric Audige, Director of 01dB-Metravib's Industrial Reliability Division, commented: "The joint offering, on the other hand, combining maintenance management services by Siveco China with 01dB-Metravib's condition monitoring systems and expert assistance, ensures that the CMS is part of the overall maintenance strategy. This bundled solution guarantees high return on investment, measured by Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)". He added: "The CMS feeds the CMMS with metrics and maintenance recommendations based on the machines condition assessment, thus enabling a genuine improvement of the overall maintenance process, leading to an increase in plant reliability and a reduction of direct costs."
